Hi, All!
Autumn is in full swing.
A ride along the Fox River in Batavia, Illinois, lent itself to a perfect fall day and the perfect opportunity for the photo above. I observed many foolproof signs of the season—the colors, cool breezes, V-formations of geese overhead, and small scurrying animals darting across the bike path, preparing for colder weather.
What's On My Desk
The acknowledgments, dedication, bio, and title pages for Pompey Hollow Road are the last items to complete before finalizing the book for publishing.
Imagine writing a thank you card or a letter of gratitude to a dear friend who always has your back through thick and thin. It is how I feel when writing the acknowledgments for my book. I wrote several drafts, wanting to have it perfect for publication. My friends and family, designers, editors, and readers on the acknowledgment pages are the people who make it possible for my novels to be placed in the hearts and hands of readers.

From the Dog's POV
My human says the finish line is in sight. I’m not sure what this means, but it seems like my human is in overdrive. We've gone on a few 5-mile walks, which was great for the first three miles until my human said I'd sniffed around enough, and now it was time to pick up my pace. Then, early the following morning, she took me walking in the rain. I barely was out of bed—and besides, she knows I don't care to get my fur wet.
Okay, this next part has nothing to do with books, but trust me, you’ll want to hear this. My human said I would make a cute ghost this Halloween. Now, I never complain, BUT A GHOST! My human always says I’m front and center, and now, I’m supposed to disappear into the shadows dressed like a ghost. I was thinking more like the king of the jungle—because it would suit me perfectly. Wouldn’t you agree?
My human’s next book should be…How Not to Dress Your Dog for Halloween!
Good Vibes
This past week, eight amazing ladies invited me to speak as a guest author for their book club meeting. The evening was so much fun…and a hoot. The discussion was excellent, and I felt like I was part of the group within a short time. Thanks so much, ladies, for selecting The Fifth Floor as your month's book club book.
Thank you to all the book club groups who took a chance on my novels and allowed me to be part of their inner circle for an evening.
As always,
Your support of my writing and novels has always brought me joy, and being invited to book clubs, school events, presentations, and Zooms is a pleasure.
